Familiarize Yourself with Rio Real Golf Club
Designed by admired golf architect Javier Arana, the course at the Rio Real Golf Club first opened to the public in 1965. This par-72 course offers 18 holes and numerous challenges. Though the course is mainly flat, players report that it tests your skill. One factor playing a part in this is the ever-present Rio Real, which winds its way through the course. In some holes, it's necessary to shoot over water. Such is the case, for example, with the 3rd hole, a par three with lovely views. Fairways are bordered by forests of mature tress.
Those who have played at Rio Real Golf Club will tell you that there are certain holes that are particularly challenging:
- The 6th hole demands that you deliver a precise tee shot, so as not to send your ball careening into the hillside at the right.
- The 8th is made more arduous by the presence of daunting bunkers.
- Other difficult holes include the 10th, the 11th and the 12th.
Marbella's temperate climate offers mild weather even in the winter months. As such, golf may be enjoyed at Rio Real all throughout the year.
